Performance, efficiency and robustness - the T470P sets new standards for corporate notebooks. The T470P impresses with an award-winning keyboard, a full HD display and extremely long battery life - making it your perfect business companion anytime, anywhere.
Extremely robust and tested according to military standards
The T470P meets military standards that confirm the robustness, durability and quality of the products with regard to eight parameters: high pressure, humidity, vibration, high temperature, temperature fluctuations, low air pressure (corresponding to 4,500 m altitude), low temperatures and dust. In addition, an innovative safety frame, a housing top made of carbon fiber and a light bottom made of magnesium ensure additional torsional rigidity.

This T470P is about as good as it gets. It is really slim and light yet completely robust. It has a perfect HD widescreen LED backlit screen which can be set bright enough to be viewed in FULL DAYLIGHT. That means it is 16:9 widescreen - great for watching movies. For weight saving these do not have a DVD drive but any USB external device will work fine. And this one has an inbuilt webcam.
But most importantly its solid state hard drive increases its speed and responsiveness by several orders of magnitude. For example it fully loads Windows from off in about 14 seconds against about 3 minutes with a mechanical drive. This has a 256GB NVME PCI Express . These laptops are mostly sold to big companies for executives' use. They demand reliability and ruggedness - and the legendary smooth ThinkPad keyboard, universally acknowledged to be the best made.
Another clever feature of this model is that it has drainage channels from the keyboard to the underneath. So if, for example, you knock your cup of tea over and some of it lands on the keyboard there's a good chance it will drain away out the bottom of the machine and it won't destroy the mainboard.
This machine has a very rapid 7th generation Intel i5 processor and 16Gb of DDR4 RAM so with the SSD and rapid processor it's really quick. These modern processors use very little battery power.
There's an SD Card reader, VGA, Mini Display Port, and combined headphone/microphone socket.

Thunderbolt 3 port, which is also a USB Type-C port (Gen2) that can be used for charging (Power Deliver 2.0). TB3 is extremely versatile and therefore future-proof; the supported protocols also include DisplayPort 1.2a, for instance. The latter can drive high-resolution 4K screens at 60 Hz; the HDMI 1.4 output only supports 4K at 24 Hz. VGA monitors, which are still common in some companies, require an adapter (not provided).
