E-MU Proteus 2500 Command Module

For sale is an E-MU Proteus 2500 4U rackmount synthesiser and hardware command station, complete with the original Composer ROM (32MB) installed.

This is the classic flagship 128-voice engine, Z-plane filters, with the full 16-track onboard MIDI sequencer.
16 real-time assignable controller knobs.
6 analog outputs.
S/PDIFdigital out.
3 open expansion slots for additional E-MU ROMs.
MIDI: In/Out1/Out2.
2 Footswitch ins and USB host.

Recently serviced with a brand new rotary encoder installed to replace the original jumpy one. Navigates menus and parameters cleanly with zero skipping or value jumping.

Knobs: 15 factory original knobs present. Rotary encoder knob cap has been replaced with a clean, functional 3D-printed replacement (on a waiting list for an original replacement).

Hardware & Electronics: Display is bright, clear, and fully legible. All buttons, pads, audio outputs, and MIDI ports tested and working as expected.

Cosmetics: Good overall condition with minor standard rack rash around the mounting holes.

I have owned it for about 15 years with no issues. Mainly used for building synth sounds via OSX editor and for its huge library of sounds, but never fully explored its possibilities. Never gigged and always kept in a studio rack.
Downsizing for a more minimalist setup.
