The Kaskazi Duo is suitable for canals, slow rivers, lakes, estuary and Ocean. Hugely versatile!

Designed to cope with large swells off Cape Town, it is exceptionally buoyant and stable, but not at the expense of speed. At just under 6 m long, it is fast even for recreational paddlers. A steady cruising speed of 5kts is easily attained, whilst conditioned paddlers can cruise at >6kts. The <6m length is not overly long for car transporting – the Duo has less overhang than many other doubles!

The shallow vee hull and strong secondary stability make the Duo feel secure in rough conditions and it handles neutrally in a cross wind. A third bulkhead positioned between the paddlers adds strength and improves safety. The sturdy retractable alloy rudder with easily-adjustable pedal steering gives superb dynamic steering and is useful for saving energy, particularly across the wind & for downwind situations. Overall easy handling and fast running allows recreational paddlers to cover longer distances for little effort.
The Duo's medium-large volume provides excellent load carrying capacity for day tripping or extended expeditions. Access to roomy storage compartments is via large, well-secured,oval hatches. The Duo weighs 32kg which is light for a double kayak, makes for easier carrying & roof topping.

The Duo is a most versatile expedition/ touring double sea kayak and is suitable for all paddlers from novices through to experts. For serious expeditioning, expert paddlers have found the Duo up to the task of carrying big loads and handling extreme sea-kayaking conditions. Equally, it is great in calmer waters for mixed ability paddlers in a club or for private use. When paired with an experienced paddler it provides a safe teaching platform for novices to learn and stretch their paddling skills. Steering is controlled from the back position which is handy for coaching novices in full view of the back paddler.
Fast enough to race, it is well suited to sea kayak racing as well as inland racing, i.e. in the doubles class in the ICU marathon ranking series races and the touring double class in the Liffey Descent. The Duo is also well-suited for Adventure racing- It is reassuringly stable yet fast, controllable, comfortable for long paddling legs, and has easy access hatches to retrieve gear quickly.
