Technical Sales
Our Client is an award-winning Engineering firm, partnering with clients in Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical/Medical Devices/ Food, Dairy & Beverage Processing/Data Centre industries along with the Public Sector. We have established a strong international presence and reputation, with significant business across the UK, EU, USA and EMEA, representing approximately 40% of our overall turnover. Our clients include Architects, Consulting Engineers and Building Contractors. Due to continued growth in these sectors, we are expanding our team and seeking to recruit an experience Technical Sales & Business Development to join our existing team of 8 members within the Sales team.
Key responsibilities
• Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customers. Effectively manage all client relationships with a view to increasing revenue/sales potential with each customer.
• Drive growth by working closely with Architects (landscape and building), Consulting Engineers and Building Contractors on project-based sales across the Life Sciences, Food & Beverage Processing, and Public Realm sectors.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities in target international markets, which will involve cold calling from a database of 40k+ target clients.
• Identifying “Green Shoots” and visible progress within new industries and prospects.
• Plan and executive an 18/24/36- month sales target cycle and take ownership of this prospect client list, with a view to converting prospects to live/active customers.
• Generate and qualify sales leads through proactive market engagement.
• Formalising a plan for targeting prospects in set geographic locations and creating a sales pipeline.
• Organising planned in-person presentation dates to multiple prospects, organising full schedule and specific pitch/presentation required in order to maximise the sales campaign success.
• Organise flights, accommodations, car hire etc. Take full ownership of the plan/schedule.
• Deliver on-line industry and client specific professional technical and commercial presentations.
• Collaborate closely with internal engineering, production, purchasing, and logistics teams in relation to projects.
• Maintain accurate records using CRM and internal systems.
Qualifications and Experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years previous experience in international business development and business-to-business (B2B) sales.
• Proven lead generation and cold calling experience.
• Experienced of working towards and achieving sales targets, revenue targets, KPIs and deliverables.
• Proven relationship building and relationship management experience.
• Strong presentation skills are required as this will be a presentation heavy position, requiring exceptional communication and organisational skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex travel and presentation schedules.
• Self-motivated and ability to operate independently without constant supervision.
• Strong capability in using company-wide systems such as CRM platforms to record/update sales activity, production scheduling tools and co-ordination with Engineering, Purchasing and Logistics teams is essential to succeed in this role.
• Experience working with Architects and Consulting Engineers will prove a distinct advantageous but not essential.
• Knowledge of Life Sciences/ Pharmaceuticals/Medical Devices/Food, Dairy & Beverage Processing industries/Public Sector/Data Centres is desirable.
• Full, clean driving licence preferred
The position will be on-site based at our manufacturing facility in Wexford. Following an initial six-month period, the role will involve international travel, including occasional overnight stays.
