EHS Officer/Advisor - Wexford

Our client is a highly recognised and established Engineering business, certified to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking to recruit an EHS Advisor/Officer to co-ordinate and continually improve their integrated EHS management system and help make safe, compliant and environmentally responsible execution part of how the business operates every day.

The Role

This is a visible, hands-on role - not a desk-based compliance position. You will work with the EHS management system and assurance framework, while coaching operational leaders to retain clear accountability for safe execution in their own areas.

Continually improve ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, including audit readiness, management review and corrective-action closure.

Lead risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations and improvement actions across a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Maintain the Safety Statement, environmental aspects and impacts register, chemical inventory, SDS and chemical agent risk assessments.

Drive environmental compliance, waste management and practical improvement; liaise with the HSA, EPA, local authorities and certification bodies as required.

Chair the Safety Committee, strengthen hazard/near-miss reporting and deliver relevant in-house EHS training, inductions and toolbox talks where suitably qualified.

Report clear EHS KPIs and significant risks through the management structure, and support contractor control, permits, machinery safety, lifting and emergency preparedness.

Key Requirements:

A recognised H&S qualification.

3-5 years' relevant EHS experience in manufacturing, fabrication, engineering or heavy industry.

Strong working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and relevant environmental obligations.

Proven hands-on experience in risk assessment, audits, incident investigation, corrective actions and ISO 45001/ISO 14001 systems.

A practical, credible style with the confidence to influence from the workshop floor through management and with external auditors/regulators.

Useful extras: Lead Auditor qualification; Train-the-Trainer/instructor qualification; experience with welding/hot work, lifting, machinery safety, confined space or passivation/pickling chemicals; professional EHS/environmental membership.
