2003 Fender American Series Jazz Bass S-1 – USA – Sunset Orange Transparent

For sale is my 2003 USA Fender American Series Jazz Bass, finished in the very distinctive Sunset Orange Transparent.

This is a particularly attractive and less commonly encountered Fender finish from this era, with the natural body grain visible through the translucent orange finish.

It has the S-1 switching system, maple neck/fingerboard, traditional Fender Jazz Bass pickup configuration and 34” scale.

The bass comes with its original Fender hard-shell case, plus genuine Fender chrome pickup and bridge covers.

Condition

The bass is in very good overall condition for its age, but it is not being advertised as mint.

There is some finish damage/chipping on the rear of the body, which can be seen clearly in the photographs, along with some smaller marks consistent with age and use.

The original Fender case has also had a lot of use and has considerable cosmetic wear externally, but remains functional and is a genuine original Fender case.

The front of the bass presents extremely well and the Sunset Orange finish is particularly striking.

I’m deliberately showing the cosmetic imperfections clearly so there are no surprises for the buyer.

This is a 2003 USA Fender, not a modern Mexican/Japanese model.

The Sunset Orange Transparent finish is documented as one of the finishes offered on Fender’s American Series Jazz Bass during this period.

The combination of the USA American Series specification, S-1, Sunset Orange finish, original Fender case and genuine chrome covers makes this a particularly interesting example.
