Sharp MD-MS701H(S) MiniDisc Recorder - Boxed Complete Set - Serviced & Tested

For sale is a Sharp MD-MS701H portable MiniDisc recorder in excellent cosmetic condition for its age.

This model features Sharp’s distinctive slot-in MiniDisc mechanism and backlit LCD remote. Discs are inserted directly into the recorder and lock into place with a satisfying mechanical action, while ejection is performed using the side release lever.

Cosmetically the unit presents very well. It has minor marks consistent with careful use but overall remains in excellent condition. Battery compartment is clean and free from corrosion.

Original Sharp AD-S31BT 3.6V lithium-ion battery (included for completeness, no longer holding a useful charge)

The recorder has been cleaned and tested. The mechanism was cleaned and lubricated, and the optical lens cleaned.

Playback and recording have been tested successfully. Disc reading, TOC writing and track access are all working correctly.

During troubleshooting I used a second MD-MS701H to identify and eliminate faults. The working electronics and mechanism were fitted into the cleaner silver chassis. As a result, the centre plastic section around the ports is dark grey rather than the original light grey. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect operation.
