Rega Planar 2 vintage record deck.

Vintage Rega Planar 2 turntable. This hails from the late 70s and is the model that put Rega on the map. Renowned for its accurate and musical delivery despite - or maybe because of - it’s simplistic design.

This is the original Planar 2 specification with the walnut-edged plinth and glass platter, rather than the later, and less desirable, MDF versions.

The plinth is in excellent condition overall and could be easily described as new. It has just been serviced to include drive belt, motor suspension and main bearing oil. It comes with a spare new drive belt. It needs nothing but to be connected up and enjoyed. The lid is in very good condition, especially considering its age. The hinges are perfect. There are no cracks, gouges or scrapes. There are a couple of very minor scratches, which I have tried to capture in the photos, and which could easily be polished out with MicroMesh or rubbing compound. In reality though, these will not be visible in normal use and I have left well enough alone.

Unique to the Rega Planar is the ability to play 45s as well as LPs by simply transferring the drive belt to the adjacent larger diameter pulley on the drive spindle. Genius!

Rega arm and Ortofon cartridge included. The headshell has been upgraded to an ADC LMG-1 which is magnesium and is lighter and stiffer. This gives an uplift to the music over the stock one. As I said, just connect and play! Audition welcome. Bring your own LPs!
