Onkyo A-7 Vintage Integrated Stereo Amplifier — Serviced & Partially Restored
For sale is my Onkyo A-7 integrated amplifier, a substantial vintage Japanese amplifier from the golden era of Hi-Fi.
This amplifier has received a significant amount of preventative maintenance and restoration work, including:
New filter capacitors fitted — the original large-value parts are increasingly difficult to source in suitable specifications.
Power supply completely rebuilt/serviced.
Brand-new speaker protection relay fitted.
The vast majority of the electrolytic capacitors throughout the amplifier replaced.
Controls and switches thoroughly cleaned.
Original illumination replaced with a LED, giving reliable long-term illumination while retaining the original appearance.
General inspection and servicing carried out.
The power amplifier boards have not been recapped, so I want to be completely transparent that this is a partially restored/serviced amplifier rather than a 100% ground-up restoration.
The A-7 is a serious piece of vintage Onkyo engineering, and this particular example has had considerable work carried out to address some of the age-related components that can cause problems in amplifiers of this era. The replacement of the main filter capacitors and rebuilding of the power supply alone represents a significant investment in both parts and labour.
It is now ready to be enjoyed as a vintage Hi-Fi amplifier, with the benefit of having had a substantial amount of preventative maintenance already carried out.
Important: This is a vintage amplifier, now several decades old. It is not a new product and is not being sold as such. Despite the servicing and restoration work described above, I cannot guarantee that another age-related component may not require attention in the future.
There is no warranty or guarantee offered with this amplifier. It is sold as a vintage electronic item in its current condition.
A very nice opportunity to acquire a properly serviced example of a classic Onkyo amplifier without having to take on all of the initial restoration work yourself.
