@hernad, thank you for your questions. Yes the speakers only work when powered from a receiver. You are welcome to come and see/hear them work with no obligation. I have a receiver (which i am also selling) and cables that we can use to hook them up. I am around this and next weekend or evenings during the week. Thanks, Ger

The Q50a is a passive speaker:

no built-in amplifier
no power cable
no standby mode
no “always on” electronics

It only works when connected to an AV receiver/amplifier.

Do these speakers auto start when audio is active or must I switch on every time I start my PC? I am very interested but because you are a new user here, I am reluctant because you have no reviews. I may make another offer but would need to test them before purchase.
