Attractive classic ballast fillable Apollo A24 steel speaker stands. In excellent rust-free condition. Featuring striking thick cylindrical column with a black textured finish. Rare in this condition.

In exceptional shape for stands that are approaching 30 years old.

Stands are 24 inches high without original spikes, which are included in the sale but do not feature in the photos.

Top plate is 5 x 7 inches with four fixing holes. There are marks on mounting plinths but these will be covered by the speakers, otherwise the stands remarkably mark-free.

These stands were part of the Apollo A Series range and sold from the late 1990s to early 2000s. They incorporate a single large hollow cylindrical steel column and are more substantial than many modern lightweight designs.

You don’t have to fill them - they will do an excellent job as they are due to the heavy mass of their thick steel plate construction. However, these stands will perform noticeably better with ballast. A fully loaded pair could end up weighing 25-35 kg, which is excellent for stability.

They will take kiln-dried sand, silver sand from a builders' merchant (fully dried before use) , ball bearings or metal atabites. Fill to around 60-75% of capacity initially and listen - you can always add more.

These stands are increasingly rare and a good investment for speaker fans.
