I'm not an expert however i am aware of 3 versions of the Silva Expedition 4;

- Silva Expedition 4 (360) baseplate compass graduated in degrees (normal compass).
- Silva Expedition 4 (6400) baseplate compass graduated in mils and degrees (army compass).
- Silva Expedition 4B (6400) baseplate compass graduated in mils and degrees with Tritium BetaLight illumination (NATO compass).

The “full-sized” base plate compass for experienced navigators – used by NATO Forces around the world.

Graduated in mils and degrees the 4B-6400/360 NATO compass from Silva is perfect for all service men and women that are experienced and competent navigators.

Key parts have been coated in Tritium BetaLight illumination that gives of a soft incandescent glow for 7.5 years worth of nighttime navigation.

A GTLS is a glass capsule coated internally with a phosphor and filled with tritium gas, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen.

3 romer scales, 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:63360 (1:25,000, 1:50,000 and 1:63,360)
10 cm baseplate for plotting long legs
Inch and millimeter scales for mapping or plotting
Tritium BetaLight luminescent points (Luminous details) for night navigation (shown under blacklight)
Measuring scales for positioning (GPS)
Lanyard hole on the base plate for easy carrying (lanyard included) length: approx. 23.62inch/60cm.
Sturdy acrylic construction.
