A very rare tool for finishing chair parts and other similar furniture parts. Factory made in Lyon, France, the body is hardwearing sorbier, the wood of the Service tree. It has a brass mouth and a very fine steel scraper blade. As you can see in the later pictures it produces a thin fine shaving with no need for further work with abrasives. In all my years of chairmaking and tool collecting Ive only ever seen one of these and it was handmade.
