Azobe and Birdseye Maple Mitre Plane
Condition:
Brand new
Azobé and Hard Spalted Birdseye Maple mitre plane with an O1 tool steel iron made by Philip Edwards from Philly Planes.
The video I'm testing on is a hundred year old quarter sawn Oak, and it left a smooth finish.
Azobé (Ekki a West Africa Ironwood) with a janka rating of 3,500 LBF, notorious difficult to work due to its interlocked grain and silica which dulls tools, it's a beautiful orange colour.
The wedge and mouth closer are Hard Spalted Birdseye Maple incredible figure.
It's 11 3/4 inches long, 3 inch wide, 2 inch high. With a 2.5-inch wide by 9 inch long O1 tool steel iron, sharpened to 15000 grit on Japanese whet stones.
Finished with peacock oil and natural creamed beeswax.
