Ibanez JD9 Jet Driver Overdrive pedal
Ibanez JD9 Jet Driver Overdrive pedal
Ibanez JD9 Jet Driver is a versatile overdrive and distortion pedal originally released in 2011 as part of the company's classic 9 Series. Unlike a standard Tube Screamer, the Jet Driver provides significantly more gain, an active mid-frequency EQ, and True Bypass switching.
Core Controls & Features
Drive: Adjusts gain from smooth, vintage crunch to hard-punching distortion.
Mid: Controls the 750Hz frequency range. It is notched at 12 o'clock (neutral), allowing you to scoop or heavily boost your midrange.
Volume: Offers a massive amount of output level, making it highly effective as a clean or dirty boost.Tone: Adjusts the high and low frequency balance.
True Bypass: Ensures your raw guitar signal remains uncoloured when the effect is turned off.
How It Sounds
Jet Driver bridges the gap between a traditional overdrive and an amp-like distortion pedal. While it uses a circuit layout similar to a Tube Screamer (operational amplifier and soft clipping), it delivers a much wider tonal range. It lacks the fixed "mid-hump" of a TS9, giving you total control over whether your sound cuts through the mix or sits scooped and modern. It is especially popular for pushing tube amplifiers that are already on the verge of breaking up.
