Boss Hi Band Flanger HF2
This unit was made in Japan in January 1986 so this year is it's 40th Birthday!!
I've had it since then and used it mostly when playing bass. It adds a lovely sparkle to the bass sound that's hard to describe but just sounds great.
I've also used it with acoustic guitar from time to time and it sounds great on that too.
Unlike the standard BF-2, the HF-2’s flanging effect emphasizes the higher frequency range, producing a bright, glassy shimmer that enhances clean tones, harmonics, and arpeggios with a smooth, musical motion. It’s particularly favored by players who want subtle movement and tonal depth without the heavy swirl typical of deeper flangers.
The control layout features Manual, Depth, Rate, and Resonance knobs, offering full control over the intensity, speed, and character of the modulation. Its warm analog circuitry delivers the lush, airy textures that have made mid-’80s Boss pedals legendary among collectors and studio musicians alike.
Obviously has some signs of use, but cosmetically is not bad at all. I have the original box, and the manual can be found here: https://cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/HF-2_OM.pdf
