BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion effect pedal box
BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion effect pedal box
BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion is a highly versatile dual-mode analogue distortion pedal first released in 1987 as an expanded, harder-hitting successor to the legendary BOSS DS-1.
It is famous for anchoring the signature grunge and alternative rock sounds of artists like Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Prince.
Core Features & Specifications
Dual Turbo Modes: A 4-way rotary knob switches between two distinct distortion voicings.
Remote Switch Jack: Features a dedicated REMOTE input allowing you to plug in an external latching footswitch (like the BOSS FS-5L) to alternate between Turbo modes mid-performance.
Control Layout: Four straightforward control knobs regulate Level, Tone, Distortion, and Turbo mode selections.
Power Requirements: Operates on a standard 9V battery or a regulated 9V DC PSA-series power adaptor.
The Two Turbo Modes:
Turbo Mode I: Yields a relatively flat frequency response with a warm, mellow distortion. It functions similarly to a classic BOSS DS-1, delivering scooped, crisp rhythm crunch.
Turbo Mode II: Engages a powerful, resonant mid-range frequency boost. This pushes the guitar directly to the front of a band mix, providing a biting, high-gain lead voice with plenty of sustain.
