Zoolek Aquatest Ca-Mg

Aquatest Ca-Mg is used for quick and accurate measurement of calcium, magnesium and total hardness in fresh water. The measurement method is based on titration, i.e. adding a drop-by-drop reagent to the test water sample until a color change is achieved in accordance with the attached color standard. The measurement result (concentration of Ca2 + and Mg2 + ions) is obtained in mg / l, the total hardness value is expressed in German degrees.

Why measure the content of calcium and magnesium ions in fresh water?

In plant aquariums, apart from the total concentration of calcium and magnesium (general hardness), the relationship between these elements is also important. Sometimes magnesium deficiency occurs with normal general hardness. Magnesium is of fundamental importance for the proper growth of plants - it is in the center of the chlorophyll molecule responsible for the process of photosynthesis. The correct ratio of magnesium to calcium should be around 1: 5.

The Aquatest Ca-Mg also measures with high accuracy the general hardness over a wide range of values.
