Histoire des Girondins is one of Lamartine's most influential historical works. It chronicles the lives of the Girondists, a moderate political faction during the French Revolution. The book was immensely popular and is often credited with helping to spark the Revolution of 1848, which led to the creation of the French Second Republic.
Excellent Condition for its age, very nicely bound with many high quality portraits. 4 kg in weight, 24 by 16 cm's.

The 1870 edition shown here contains multiple portraits of key historical figures like Louis XVI and Robespierre.
