The Long Walk by Stephen King (Horror American Edition Paperback 2016)

The Long Walk is a dystopian horror novel by Stephen King, published in 1979 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The story is set in a dystopian alternative version of the United States ruled by a totalitarian regime. The plot follows the contestants of a gruelling annual walking contest, where 100 young men must walk continuously along a pre-arranged route, maintaining a minimum pace of 4 miles per hour. The winner of the contest is awarded "The Prize"—anything he wants for the rest of his life. The novel is known for its intense character development and chilling atmosphere, making it a significant work in Stephen King's career.
