Single volume academic student textbook containing a partial text (Books 1–8), complete with original philological notes, examination questions, an appendix summarizing George Grote’s Homeric theory, and a rear publisher's catalog of "Standard School and College Books."
Original mid-Victorian brown publisher's cloth. Distinctive "rippled" or wavy grain texture across the front, back, and spine.Spine: Features gold-gilt lettering reading "HOMER'S / ILIAD / — / FAUSSET". The spine ends show minimal exterior fraying, and the cloth remains tight on the spine wall.
Boards (Covers): Highly decorative blind-stamped design impressed into both the front and back boards. The design features geometric outer rule borders with elaborate floral filigree corner pieces. All four corners show very light bumping but no structural crushing or fraying.
Splits to inner boards, the outer cover is loose but not coming away from main body.
