Presentation copy, inscribed by the Author. An Octogenarian Literary Life. The Autobiography of James Roderick O'Flanagan
An exceptional copy of the scarce 1896 autobiography of prominent Irish legal biographer and historian James Roderick O'Flanagan (1814–1900), locally printed in limited numbers by Guy and Co. in Cork.
This copy features an intimate, beautifully preserved holographic ink presentation inscription on the front flyleaf, written late in the author’s life: "This work is presented to Miss Annie Barry In grateful memory of Tender Care and nursing by Her affectionate Cousin The Author. Avondhu Grange Fermoy. 26th April 1898." The inscription provides remarkable local provenance, firmly anchoring the book to O'Flanagan’s final estate (Avondhu Grange) just two years prior to his death.
Bound in the original publisher's dark textured cloth with elegant gold gilt titles stamped on the front board and spine. Frontispiece portrait tissue guard is intact. A highly collectible piece of Munster legal heritage and late 19th-century Irish biography.
