One of my favourite writers. I love to imagine the cynical genius chain puffing Benson gold and furiously assaulting his type writer keys. For my money, the best sentence writer of the previous century. So muscular and hilarious and idiosyncratic.
Both Amises are class and all haters are WRONG!
