Vintage 1970s Sakai SG-Style Electric Guitar Made in Japan
Very cool and unusual vintage Sakai SG-style electric guitar, believed to date from the early/mid 1970s and made in Japan.
Features a cherry/burgundy SG-style body, genuine SAKAI badged headstock, bolt-on neck, zero fret, twin chrome pickups and a distinctive vintage spring tremolo system.
The guitar was bought via home auction a few years ago and I got it professionally rewired and fully set up by Dave in Sound Factory, so it’s playing well and ready to go.
I can’t find a serial number on the guitar, so I’m not claiming a specific year or model, but Sakai produced these Japanese SG-style guitars during the 1970s.
It’s around 50 years old and naturally has some age-related wear and marks, but overall it’s in really nice condition for its age. See photos for the exact condition.
A lovely bit of vintage Japanese guitar history and something considerably more unusual than your typical SG copy.
