Vintage 1969 Gibson SG Standard
Stunning, all original 1969 Gibson SG Standard in excellent condition.
This is one of the very desirable 1960s SG Standards that were built before Gibson started putting a volute at the headstock / neck join and before made in USA was stamped into the back of the headstock. Pots date it to 1969 but it has all the features of a 1968 SG.
Truly an iconic model, same era as Angus Young’s and Robbie Krieger’s.
The guitar is in great shape and is totally break free.
It was recently re-fretted and plays superbly. The sound is totally sublime. These original old humbuckers really need to be heard to be believed. The vibrato is great and works exactly as it should.
It is finished in a lovely factory cherry which has turned a little brown over the years. There are two small filled holes in the back of the guitar where it looks like something was screwed into place at some stage. You can see a slight variation in the colour where the plate or whatever it was, meant that a small part of the guitar got less exposure to light over the years. These filled holes are not really noticeable and obviously have no bearing on the guitar at all.
This is a reluctant sale but I have another old SG which I play more often so I’m considering letting this go.
This is a really rare opportunity to pick up one of the classic Gibson electric models at a fantastic price.
It’s the cheapest all original, break free one you will find anywhere. I’ve very significantly reduced the price due to the two small filled screw holes and mostly because I’m looking for a quick sale.
These are typically $8000 plus in the USA and well over 9000 euros in Europe.
This is a great investment as well as a wonderful guitar.
It comes with a high end modern Gibson case.
Thanks
