Strat relic mid 60's (Fender clone)
replica. I am a huge advocate of fairplay when it comes to counterfeit musical instruments being sold to people without sufficient knowledge to differentiate the real thing so I have made every effort to denote it’s a replica by an independent builder with permanent marker ‘replica strat non-genuine’ on the back of the headstock, neck pocket, inside the body. Although anyone in a guitar shop would notice non-fender detailing, I just like the aesthetic of a Fender logo! Simple as, but even at that I have not included a serial number or patent number (intentionally) **
Component spec is premium grade. Red alder body, I chose the lightest 1.65kg from a body supplier in France (ADP guitar parts). Neck is made in the UK (Haze Guitars UK), maple with rosewood fretboard and bone nut. Truss rod adjustment at base of neck accessible to player to save having to remove the neck like a true vintage strat. Tremolo unit along with tremolo arm is Gotoh. Tuners are vintage Japanese (Gotoh/Greco/Tokai?) bought on adverts from reputable vintage dealer and hold tune very well. Pots are CTS, capacitors are Fender, pickups are Fender Tex Mex. Mint scratch plate relic’d, as are tuners and input jack. I intentionally left trem unit unrelic’d as that is what the custom shop builders do these days. Contrast makes it look sleek.
Paint job is all nitrocellulose. Body was sealed, primed and sprayed in a vintage correct three tone sunburst in the colours of a mid 60’s (64/65) L-series Fender (I will supply all photos of process to buyer). Then I sprayed vintage white over the top coat after a few months of curing and top coated once again. Then relic’d and aged from there. The intention is for the guitar to further wear from playing a la Rory G/Philip Sayce.
Sound is excellent. When I play through a Fender amp, I hear Matt Schofield’s ‘Lights are on but Nobody’s home’. That’s the best way I can explain it. Neck is very resonant as is the body. Loads of sustain on tap. Good bass response which is excellent for a strat, it makes the tone beefy. The pickups are hot and overwound, good detailed sound - same pickup Jimmie Vaughan uses. Check his tone, aggressive twang.
Come play it first before making a decision. Bring your amp as well if you wish.
