Ibanez RG270 1998 Korean
1998 Ibanez RG270 in Candy Apple Red, made in Korea.
I’ve owned this guitar since new. It’s recently been fully cleaned and set up after spending quite a while unused.
It is now playing very well and has been set up with fresh 10–46 strings (what I had to hand). The floating tremolo has been returned to its original floating configuration and balanced correctly, with action, neck relief and intonation all set.
Original specification including:
* Basswood RG body in metallic Candy Apple Red
* Wizard II maple neck
* Rosewood fingerboard
* 24 jumbo frets
* HSH Ibanez Powersound pickups
* 5-way selector, volume and tone
* Ibanez SLT101 locking tremolo
* Locking nuts I might have replaced as they are black instead of chrome
* Original tuners and chrome hardware
* Unfortunately missing the whammy bar
* Made in Korea
For a guitar that’s approximately 28 years old it’s in very good overall cosmetic condition. There are scratches, small marks and chips and normal signs of use, along with some age/corrosion visible on screws and hardware. The whammy bar is missing. I’ve tried to show the condition clearly in the photos rather than hide anything.
Everything is working correctly and it plays very nicely.
The serial number is partially worn but the remaining marking identifies it as a 1998 Korean RG270; Candy Apple Red.
A proper late-’90s RG for the price of a Gio/budget model, I’d say the price is reasonable but feel free to make a reasonable offer. No trades as this is to make space.
