Fender MIJ Jazzmaster

This is a Fender MIJ Jazzmaster imported from Japan, which is a dream to play despite its many battle scars. This is a 60s inspired model, with a 7.25” rosewood fretboard, vintage style tuners, and Fender 65 Jazzmaster pickups (non-stock for this model).

I’ve done a number of repairs and upgrades since I purchased the guitar, including:

• Full fret level, crown and polish.
• Upgraded wiring harness with 1meg Alpha pots and orange drop capacitors, as well as solderless pickup installation. It is wired as a traditional Jazzmaster is.
• Upgraded Mustang bridge with correct 7.25” radius and 52mm post to post spacing.
• Setup with .11-.52 strings, nut slots cut and tremolo arm setup.
• Reconditioned and treated rosewood fretboard.
• 0.5mm neck shim, typical on offset guitars.

This is a well-used guitar with lots of battle scars and stories from its past life. The previous owner(s) had installed American size components judging by some of the pickguard holes, and there are many marks, scratches and dings.

It plays like a dream, and the frets have plenty of life left in them even after the full recrown and polish. The pickups are bright and have the classic Hi-Fi Jazzmaster tone with the 1meg pots.

Just testing the waters as I’ve my eye on some other gear, so no real panic with this. I also have a variety of original parts the guitar came with, including the original Jazzmaster bridge, volume and tone knobs, and a Tremolo bar to increase the break angle of the strings before they make contact with the bridge.
