Fender Japan '70s antigua Strat reissue
Fender Japan Q serial limited edition reissue of the 1970s Antigua Strat. Only 400 made between June and December 2003 I believe.
Gloriously taste free in the best 70's tradition, truly eye catching colour, big headstock, big logo, 3 bolt neck, block saddles..... gotta love it!
However unlike the CBS originals this is made by Japanese craftsmen at the legendary Fuji Gen plant, so it doesn't weigh as much as a small car, everything fits together properly and serious attention was paid to detail ( not dissing all the US models but quality control was not an art form CBS was hugely familiar with)
In terms of the technical specs its all here

Condition wise I would say excellent, its 20 plus years old and shows some very light play marks has the original bar too.
A previous owner put a Di Marzio rail type pickup in the bridge which sounds fine ( I think I have the original but the stock pups are very bland alnico types and the pots etc are the Fuji Gen micro size pots.
I do think that it would benefit from rewiring with full size pots but that would mean drilling out that lovely limited edition scratch plate and I'm not willing to do that myself.
If anybody does want to do that I also have a set of fender Pure Vintage '73 pickups that we could discuss.
Play wise its about modern Strat weight does all the Strat sounds like it should, apart from the bridge which is vintage output and just a little "thicker" than a single coil.
The frets and fretboard are vintage 7.25" radius and the neck is not too slim and to my hand feels more U than C shaped, it does feel lovely in the hand though.
Comes with an ugly but functional hard case😆
The Mex version of this is €1400 and there's one of these exact ones on fleabay at £1250 so I feel that this is priced fairly.
