Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue Sixties Cherry, B-Stock

Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue Sixties Cherry, B-Stock Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue Sixties Cherry, B-Stock Electric Guitars

The ES-335 is known to be a very versatile guitar which can be used for a wide variety of musical styles. The guitar is in excellent condition. It includes the case which has only some minor scuffs on it. It is now €1239 to buy new from Thomann. As it is a B-Stock guitar, l got it for the price of €1,148 around 21st January 2026. There are no marks on the guitar that l can see and it plays perfectly so l presume the person who bought it returned it because they didn’t like the sound or preferred a smaller guitar rather than it being faulty in any way.I gigged with it for about 4 months this year. My reason for selling it is l prefer the sound of a Gibson Les Paul Studio l have because it has a lovely crunch to it when distorted. The Epiphone 1962 Reissue ES-335 with its Custombuckers gives a smoother more refined sound. The neck Custombucker in particular has a gorgeous sound for those who prefer that. I hate selling it but theres things called bills which must be paid. I’ll make it as rock star yet but probably without this guitar l’m afraid. Sorry for the ‘essay’ description, l do tend to overdo it.

@Njoy66 no buzz or dead spots. Now the tuning isn’t the best to be completely honest but l did buy it stock and didn’t get a set-up as l’ve said so l expected that. For those who can do this work, it shouldn’t take too much to get it right.
No electronic issues, scratchy pots or switching problems.

@Njoy66 1. (continued), regarding the action of the 12th fret on the High E string, the fritz ruler tells me the action is more on the higher side than one may wish it depending on taste.

You know your stuff. Very informative. Thank you.

@Njoy66 sorry l didn’t finish that post before l sent it. Give me another monent thanks.

@Njoy66 1. I can’t give an exact measurement of the action at the 12th fret but l have a fritz ruler and there are approximate height lines for high and low action. On the low E string, the action falls between the high and low height lines so it’s, to me anyway, a good middle ground, a good balance. You can adjust it to taste anyway as you prefer as l’m sure you know.

Thank you for that.

Glad to hear it. Just a few more now…

What’s the current action at the 12th fret?
Any buzzing or dead spots?
Does it stay in tune?
Any issues with electronics (scratchy pots, intermittent switch)?

@Njoy66 Absolutely nothing has been changed.

Thank you very much for the information. Now,
Are all parts original?
Have the pickups been changed
Has any wiring been replaced?
Original tuners?
Original bridge and tailpiece?
Any refinishing or touch-up work?

1. No cracks or repairs and the headstock hasn’t been broken or even dented.
2. No the neck hasn’t been reset.
3. There is minimal fret wear so there was/is no need to replace frets. Furthermore, l don’t have a hard picking/strumming attack and secondly, l only gigged it for 4 months and no damage has so far been done to it.
4. I never did anything with the truss rod as l didn’t/don’t feel any need to. The guitar came perfectly playable out of the case. Anyway, if work did need to be done, I prefer to leave this kind of thing to people more skilled at it than l. Since l got it new, l severely doubt the truss rod is defective.
5. Thus far, no bridge posts have lifted and there is no loose hardware that l can detect.
6. There is no fret buzz.
7. It’s stringed with 9s but of course you change to 10s or whatever other gauge you prefer.

That’s very much appreciated. Take your time.

@Njoy66 No bother l understand that you need to find out stuff before you commit. I’m just in the process of answering fully now. Just give me a few minutes but don’t worry, l don’t bullshit people in my descriptions or in any way, the guitar is perfectly fine as l’ve previously described but l understand that you may have concerns.

As I have to travel a fair distance I think it’s important to know these things first. Thanks.
