Vintage 1986 Epiphone Accu Bass with Rare 'Hockey Stick' Headstock
1986 Epiphone Accu Bass, crafted during the sought-after "Epiphone by Gibson" era at the Samick plant in Korea. Reading online on bass forums, these mid-80s Korean builds have a high reputation for quality that exceeds modern entry-level gear. The wood has 40 years of seasoning, so there is a natural stability and resonance that brand new instruments simply don't have.
The "hockey stick" headstock was only produced for a short window between 1986 and 1988, making it rare, and it adds to the 80s aesthetic. It has a solid wood P-style body and a bolt-on maple neck with a slim, fast profile that is much more comfortable than the thicker Fender models from the same time.
It's a perfect instrument for a beginner looking for something a little more premium and special than a modern budget bass, or a vintage collector looking for a punchy, classic workhorse.

Condition:
Strings: No issues but could do with a fresh set if you want more treble.
Electronics: Both knobs currently function as volume controls. This is likely due to a failed tone capacitor, an easy 10-minute fix with a soldering iron and a cheap capacitor if you want to restore the standard tone control, or you can keep it as-is if you don't mind having two volume knobs! :)
Cosmetics: Honest "road wear" consistent with its age but Ill give it a full clean for the buyer!

While this is not my main bass, it's good enough that I chose to use it on some studio recordings. For example:
