Vintage 1977 Greco Bass
Very cool vintage 1977 Greco precision bass.
This a great player and sounds fantastic. I’d definitely be keeping it if my other jazz bass didn’t suit my hands better.
Anyone who knows these old Grecos will have heard just how good they are and how they were on a par with USA Fenders at the time. In my experience this is no exaggeration and this beauty has the added advantage of being super light unlike almost all of the 1970s Fenders which weighed a ton.
This was made in Japan during the ‘law suit’ era when Fender and Gibson were threatening to sue the Japanese companies who were making great replicas of the American models at the time. This is one of the earlier ones with the perfect Fender shaped headstock, which was changed later on to try and appease Fender.
This really is a super player and sounds great with that distinctive precision thump. If it wasn’t for the Greco logo and the fact that it is light weight you would never be able to tell this from a 1970s USA Fender.
As you can see it’s in great condition and the three tone sunburst finish is really gorgeous.
Genuinely not bothered if this doesn’t sell. Perfectly happy to keep it for occasional use.
However, that is a bit of a shame as a bass this good deserves to be played.
Anyway, sure let’s see what happens…
It didn’t have a case when I got it and I never got around to getting one.
You won’t find a better bass for the money and it's a very cool vintage instrument too.
Thanks
