Very Rare Classic USA G&L ASAT Bass Mint As New FINAL Price Drop
Beautiful example of an early G&L ASAT Bass by Leo Fender and George Fullerton.
In immaculate AS NEW condition. Never gigged, rarely played. Exceptionally well cared for, kept in original G&L molded hard case.
Stunning black gloss finish Swamp ash body with natural wood binding. I have never seen another ASAT with binding.
Leo Fender & George Fullerton formed G&L, after Leo sold MusicMan to Ernie Ball, (and Fender to CBS). Leo is famously quoted as saying these were the best instruments he ever built.
They are certainly far better finished than Fender and MusicMan basses I have had. Three bolt neck plate version, in stunning condition made when Leo & George were still in charge.
To the best of my knowledge and a after lot of internet research it seems that ASATs were introduced from around 1986 and the use of the Fullerton 3 bolt continued until 1991. Leo Fender sadly passed away in 1991. So I reckon this bass is between 35 -40 years old, but literally is like brand looks new.
Playable antique finish Maple neck and headstock with maple fingerboard and black dot markers..
No wear on frets or finger board whatsoever.
Two Humbucker pickups and controls offer wide range of tones great punch, thump and growl.
Controls are volume treble and bass.
Switches pickup selector, series/parallel, active .
G&L high mass bridge.
