1993 drama following the true story of 12-year-old 'Gregory K', who went to court to divorce his alcoholic mother and abusive father and gain the right to be adopted by his foster parents. The case caused mixed reactions in the US as some saw the foster parents as bullies trying to put pressure on a poor alcoholic mother. Gregory himself, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is shown to be torn between the safe haven of his foster parents and loyalty for his loving but erratic mother.
