Classic 1980s horror directed by Sam Raimi (Spiderman, in his feature directorial debut) and starring Bruce Campbell. Because of its graphic violence, the original version of the movie was banned in several countries, including Ireland.

Five college students vacationing in an isolated cabin in the woods, where they find an audio tape reading of the Book of the Dead that, when played, releases a legion of demons and spirits. Four members of the group suffer from demonic possession, forcing the fifth member, Ash Williams, to survive an onslaught of increasingly gory mayhem.

The film spawned a media franchise of films, TV series, a musical, comics, reboots and games (on Commodore, PlayStation, Dreamcast, Xbox, Switch) and is regarded as one of the greatest independent horror films ever made. Author Stephen King gave a rave review of the film.

Evil Dead inspired films such as Shaun of the Dead, The Cabin in the Woods, Bubba Ho-Tep, Dead Alive, Dead Snow, and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. It influenced games such as Duke Nukem and Doom.

Special DVD extras include outtakes/deleted scenes, commentaries (director/producer/star) and featurette.
