Gurteen Large Solid Chunky Pine Traditional Farmhouse Dining Table

Large traditional solid pine farmhouse style dining table made by Gurteen, Cavan. Purchased new.

This is an exceptionally well made and substantial, heavy duty piece of real wood furniture, with the kind of solid timber construction that is increasingly difficult to find in modern tables.

It is constructed from solid pine throughout, including a thick planked top, substantial solid frame and aprons, heavy turned legs and a large central wooden drawer.
The underside clearly shows the traditional solid-board construction and heavy internal framing rather than MDF, veneer or lightweight modern materials.

The tabletop is attractive with prominent natural pine grain, knots and colour variation throughout. It has a moulded/rounded edge running the perimeter including softly rounded corners, which give the table a more refined appearance than a basic square-edged pine table.

The four large turned solid-wood legs are thick and heavily proportioned, with traditional turned detailing, giving the table a strong farmhouse appearance.

There is a central drawer incorporated into one side of the table with a traditional metal handle. The original ceramic Gurteen maker’s badge is also still attached.

It has been used since 1999 and consequently has age-related wear and some staining in one corner of the tabletop, which can be seen in the photographs. These are cosmetic rather than structural. The table remains extremely solid and sturdy despite flaws seen.

The existing surface gives it considerable rustic character and would be an excellent candidate for professional sanding, oiling, waxing or refinishing if cleaner or lighter finish is needed.

Stored September 2026 - covered in heavy duty plastic in a well ventilated and dry storage area.
