Vintage Cymbals
Two 14" Cymbals that I have been using as Hi Hats. Please see photos. There are some edge dings on one and hairline cracks at the bell holes of both. They sound fine, and the damage isn't likely to spread. Usually cracks at the bell hole will stop at some point and not get any worse. However, someone did drill stop one of these cracks, which was pointless. They still sound great.
The cymbals are both B20 Bronze alloy cymbals
One is a Super Zyn. It's extremely thin, and I would guess it's a crash cymbal. Probably in the 600 gram range.
The other cymbal is unbranded, probably from the 50s. Some type of Old K clone with very flat profile, low bell, hand hammered and very dark, low pitched and mellow sound. Nice cymbal, around the 700 gram range. .
I used both together as Hi Hats. They can be reversed with the heavier, darker cymbal on top, but this requires a vintage Hi Hat clutch as this cymbal is pre 60s with smaller bell hole.
The Super Zyn can take any modern Hi Hat clutch and can be used as a Top cymbal.
They don't have to be used as Hi Hats, but that's how I've used them, and I have recorded with them. Sound samples available upon request.
Price is set at €60 which I think is reasonable. It's a professional sound for cheap.
