Rare 1940 Curragh Internment Camp Tokens (Set of 2: 1d Brass & 1/- Aluminium)
For sale is a scarce, matching historical pair of WWII-era camp tokens issued at the Curragh Internment Camp in County Kildare, dated 1940.
These uniface tokens were used exclusively within the camp canteen ("K-Lines") to house interned Allied and Axis military personnel during "The Emergency."
This lot includes two distinct denominations and compositions:
1d (One Penny) – Struck in brass, clear central denomination stamp.
1/- (One Shilling) – Struck in lightweight aluminium/white metal.
Condition:Both tokens are in excellent, genuine historical condition with fantastic natural patina and crisp, readable lettering.
