About
The current Constitution, introduced in 1976, is directly descended from the Political Constitution of the Portuguese Monarchy, promulgated precisely two centuries ago, during the reign of King John VI.
To celebrate the Bicentennial of the 1882 Constitution, the Portuguese Republic, via the Portuguese Mint, issues a commemorative coin designed by the sculptor Hugo Maciel.
