James II gun money 6 pence July 1689
Registered post included in the price.
Original James II "gun money" sixpence struck in Ireland in July 1689. This emergency coinage was issued by James II during the Williamite War in Ireland, and each issue was marked with its month of striking. The obverse shows the laureate head of James II facing left. The reverse shows a crowned J R monogram with crossed sceptres, the value VI and the month "July". A great piece for collectors of Irish, Jacobite and 17th-century history.
