James 1 Silver Shilling
This is an English hammered silver Shilling (12 Pence) minted under King James I during his First Coinage (1603–1604) The start of the House of Stuart. Worn obverse but nice full flan and good reverse.
Denomination: Shilling (12 Pence, indicated by the Roman numerals XII behind the monarch's bust)
Obverse Legend: IACOBVS D: G: ANG: SCO: FRA: ET HIB: REX (James, by the Grace of God, King of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland)
Reverse Legend: EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI (“Let God arise and His enemies be scattered” — standard only on First Coinage issues before being replaced in 1604)
