Irish Bovine TB Transport Tallie. 1960's or 70's
This ear-tag was utilised under the eradication programs managed by the Irish Department of Agriculture to track and authorise the removal of TB infected 'Reactor' cattle by designated hauliers to authorised facilities.
These 'tallies' were used from 1954 to the introduction of digitisation circa 1990.
The diamond shape indicated a highly infectious animal authorised for immediate transport to a disposal facility.
