The coin features a portrait of the author and a quotation taken from his book “ulysses”. Into which an extra word (“that”) has mistakenly been added.
Joyce wrote: “ineluctable modality of the visable , at least that is no more, thought through my eyes. Signatures of all things i am here to read, seaspawn and seawrack”
The coin contains the extra word “that” in the last sentence. ‘signatures of all things “that” i am here to read”.
Coin comes in a nice presentation box with numbered certificate of authenticity.

The central bank of ireland acknowledges that the text on the joyce coin does not correspond to the precise text as it appears in ulysses (an additional word "that" has been added to the second sentence).
While the error is regretted, it should be noted that the coin is an artistic representation of the author and text and not intended as a literal representation.
