Description:
The national side of the commemorative coin features the main motif of the fortress “The Old Town of Varaždin”.
In addition to the main motif, the coin also features the inscriptions: the issuing country “HRVATSKA” (Croatia), the year of issuance “2024.” and the name of the fortress “STARI GRAD VARAŽDIN” (Old Town of Varaždin), which are inscribed circularly along the edge of the coin’s core.
The coin’s national side outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
The edge lettering of the coin features the text “O LIJEPA O DRAGA O SLATKA SLOBODO” (Oh beautiful, oh dear, oh sweet freedom) from the Hymn to Freedom, which is an integral part of the pastoral play “Dubravka” by the 17th century Croatian writer Ivan Gundulić.
