Cartwheel 2 pence 1797
Probably the most ridiculous coin ever made. It was struck as 2 oz of copper which was worth 2 pence.
British 1797 "Cartwheel" from the reign of King George III. It is famous for its distinctive wide, raised rim and incuse (sunken) lettering, a design choice intended to prevent counterfeiting and reduce wear.
If you had a few in your pocket your pants fell down! Only struck in 1797 the penny was reduced in size afterwards.
