Anglo-Saxon Hammered coin - King Cnut
Ango-Saxon AR penny, King Cnut. 18.5mm, 1.09gms, Lincoln mint.
OBV: + CNUT REX ANGLOR, crowned and draped bust left, sceptre before bust, all within quatrefoil.
REV: ASLAC MO LINC , voided long cross with triple crescent ends, pellet at centre, over quatrefoil.
North 784.
Very scarce sub-variety with sceptre before the bust, struck at the Lincoln mint by moneyer Asleikr. Obverse legend starts at 6 o-clock..
This coin is in very fine condition as seen on photos, the flan is slightly bent, small peck mark in the eye area and a few other light marks but overall a great little coin and much sought after type of the legendary Viking/Anglo-Saxon King Cnut.
