American Gold Eagle:
Obverse (Front): Features Lady Liberty walking forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, adapted from the famous 1907 design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. To the right of her legs, the date is written in Roman numerals: MCMLXXXVI (1986). This was the very first year the U.S. Mint produced the American Gold Eagle series.
Reverse (Back): Features a male bald eagle carrying an olive branch flying over a nest containing a female eagle and hatchlings, designed by Miley Busiek.
