Admiral Nelson Victory ship token
This item is a 1905 Nelson Centenary Commemorative Medalet issued by the British & Foreign Sailors' Society (B.F.S.S.) to mark the 100th anniversary of Admiral Lord Nelson's victory and death at the Battle of Trafalgar (1805).
Metal cast using actual copper salvaged from HMS Victory (and/or HMS Foudroyant), which was donated by the Lords of the Admiralty.
Obverse: Displays a broadside view of HMS Victory with the text VICTORY 1905 below.
Reverse: Inscribed FROM B.F.S.S. NELSON CENTENARY CONTAINING VICTORY COPPER E.R. VII. The E.R. VII (King Edward VII) initials were personally permitted by the King, who patronized the society. Given to all who donated 1£ to charity.
