6 M.J. Blake Truck tokens and 1 I. Fortune & Co Token Galway
There are 7 coins in this collection.
A rarely seen set of 6 Truck tokens issued by M.J. Blake Esq, Co. Galway. 4 of the coins are Copper denomonated 111d, 1111d, V1d, V111d coins, and 2 are undenominated white metal coins are thought to be pewter shillings. These coins are circa 1840 - 1855.
Also included in this collection is an I. Fortune & Co token, a linen and woollen draper business in Galway, thought to be a farthing. Circa 1837 to 1870.
The coins conditions are as shown in the photographs and generally fine imo.
But the following should be specifically noted:
1. The 111d appears to have been hit with some sort of pointed implement at some stage, a number of times, on both sides.
2. The V111d has a small black blotch, on the coat of arms side.
3. The 2nd "shilling" appears to have "oxidised" in some form.
Please see the individual photos for the finer detail.
No attempt has been made to clean the coins.
The photographs were taken at a windowsill, in natural light and no flash, on a phone, using a 50mp setting for the group photos and a macro setting for the individual photos.
The coins are from my personal collection and were originally purchased by me, in or around 1983.
