2001 1oz Silver American Eagle coin
The silver Eagle is the official bullion coin of the United States with a face value of $1. On the front of the coin is the Lady Liberty design by Adolph Alexander Weinman, an American sculptor. Here the lady is wearing an American flag while the sun rises behind her, with the word LIBERTY emblazoned along the top of the coin. Beside her is the phrase 'In God We Trust' and at the base of the coin is the year's date – 2001.
The reverse of the coin is the classic US herald design of the Eagle and the Shield, as created by John Mercanti. It features 13 stars, which represent the original colonies of America, and features the traditional Latin 'E Pluribus Unum' which means 'Out of Many, One'.
IThe 2021 silver Eagle has proven a scarce coin for Europe, with demand in the US outstripping supply.
